Good Pour has orchestrated an outstanding event in association with the release of Right Brain Brewery’s highly sought after Mangalista Pig Porter and the amazing BBQ stylings the 2013 National BBQ Person of the Year, Steve ‘Bubba’ Coddington, at Lockharts BBQ in Royal Oak. Bubba will be preparing a 60lb smoked, stuffed, Porchetta for the event.

The stuffed Porchetta is something Lockhart’s has never done, and neither has Bubba. Although he has prepared pig many different ways over the years, a 60lb porchetta is going to be a new challenge. “I’m a little nervous about it, but that’s usually when I do my best work,” says Coddington. He’ll have help from Lockhart’s Chef Rene.

Tickets will not be sold for the event. Everything will be purchased a la carte. Customers will be able to buy and pair Right Brain Brewery beers and Porchetta a la carte. All Right Brain’s offerings will be available individually or in flights.

There have been a handful of events with Lockhart’s and Right Brain over the past couple years, tap takeovers and pitmaster dinners, but this one is going to be a rare event, possibly annual; Right Brain’s most sought after beer with a 60lb smoked/stuffed porchetta.

Right Brain BreweryPairing Mangalista Pig Porter with pork isn’t new to Right Brain or Bubba. Back in April, the two teamed up at Right Brian’s brewery for the official release of the pig porter. Right Brain Brewery owner Russell Springsteen loves the idea, saying “This is another opportunity to pair up with Bubba and Lockhart’s. He helped us launch the Pig Porter at the brewery and we are excited for this event and the opportunity to share another Good Pour!”

Lockhart’s BBQ is a restaurant in Royal Oak, MI and started out of a desire to bring the warmth of southern BBQ, as enjoyed by the owners Drew and Rick, to the Detroit metropolitan area. With vast experience in the “comfort food” restaurant niche via his successful brew pub restaurants, Drew began to organize short trips to BBQ destinations in the south, mostly due to our inability to locate any authentic southern style BBQ restaurants in the greater Detroit area.
